Methodology

“The bottom line is that [ENLACE’s methodology] is sustainable, it’s empowering…It’s obvious that God’s at work doing something special.” Mark Haugen, Compassion and Justice Ministries Director, Willow Creek Community Church, South Barrington, IL

ENLACE commits to a 10 year relationship with a local church and equips church leaders to become effective agents of change. ENLACE helps churches to understand who they are as a body, to listen to their communities, and respond to opportunities for developing sustainable solutions to poverty.

ENLACE equips church and community leaders to develop programs and projects that target eight community transformation outcomes.

Our long-term goal is that churches become leaders who equip surrounding churches. We realize that the most effective way for communities to be transformed is when other churches lead by their example of service, and train one another. ENLACE’s approach is to walk alongside churches through the process as they experience God transform them into servant leaders, thus “equipping churches to transform communities.”

EQUIPPING: teach the integral mission of the church, connect churches to their communities, identify opportunities for sustainable solutions to poverty, connect churches to financial and technical resources, assist in program design and management

CHURCHES: serving poor communities in El salvador, Nepal and the U.S., serving each other in unity, committing to fulfilling GOD’s mission to transform communities, partnering with local and international churches and organizations

TRANSFORMING: shared vision, restored relationships, active participation, sustainable initiatives, effective institutions, servant leadership

COMMUNITIES: rural and semi-rural areas in El Salvador and Nepal, populations of up to 20,000 people, families living on less than $2 per day, limited access to clean water, adequate housing and/or basic health care
