Emergency Relief

The torrential rains and subsequent flooding from October 9th through October 20th led to the death of 33 people from landslides, the evacuation of 35,000 people from their homes, the loss of bridges and roads and enormous destruction of agricultural crops. The Salvadoran government declared the floods to be one of the worst disasters in the country’s history. Since the beginning of the storms, ENLACE has supported the efforts of our local church partners. Monte Horeb Church, an ENLACE partner since 2010, lost almost an entire church family buried in a landslide. The church has been caring for the small child who survived and multiple other families who were displaced from their homes. ENLACE has helped Monte Horeb Church, as well as other churches, serve their communities by providing food, basic supplies, medicines, mattresses and blankets for displaced and affected families.
