The local church, together with four neighboring communities, worked hard over the past six years in order to construct a bridge that would provide a safer river crossing and improved school attendance during the rainy season. This is the third bridge built in the area and helps 422 students and 1,776 residents in five different communities. This project also has provided an opportunity to increase community organization skills, unity between the church and community, and above all, lasting ties that will encourage future collaboration in Abelines. Along with forging new friendships and bringing safety to the area, residents will experience the economic improvements that come with better access to local markets and education.
